The Zurich city council has installed the ‘Velokafi’; a drive in platform for cyclists. Housed on the terrace of the Rathaus Cafe, are two wooden docking stations with tabletops, complete with a slot at the front that enables the front wheel of a bike to fit through and keeps it steady. The station eliminates the need for the cyclist to dismantle from their bike. There are raised platforms on each side for the resting of feet.
The Velokafi is part of the council’s Stadtverkehr 2025 Program to accomodate for the growing cycling community, improve infrastructure and reduce traffic flow.
Cyclists who visit the cafe and use the installation will be given a complimentary coffee.
