A Pollution Fighting Mural

A Pollution Fighting Mural
Courtney van der Weyden

New York City based artist and scientist Andreco has painted a pollution fighting mural titled The Philosophical Tree Sustainability. Positioned on the side of a five-story apartment block in Bologna, northern Italy, he has created an eighteen metre mural.

The painting consists of a tree, crystal and egg and is capable of cleaning the air in its proximity. How you ask?

It’s all in his choice of materials. Andreco has used a type of photochemical paint that is able to reduce the nitrogen monoxide present in the air. The tree was inspired by the philosophical tree of the Alchemists of the 14th century. The egg and crystal represent the transformation from organic to inorganic material.
