I’ve been known to drop the occasional expletive, but the most offensive F word to me is not the one that goes fu**. Its F*****- The famine in the Horn of Africa, mainly Somalia.
These are the words of rocker Bono who is fighting once again with his ONE campaign. The video is titled The F Word: Famine is the Real Obscenity and features such famous faces as Colin Farrel, George Clooney and Annie Leennox. It’s targeted at us the people, to sign the petition for world leaders to take notice this November when they meet for the Group of 20 Summit. They are the ones who have the power to stop the famine cycle and live up to the promises already made.
The video is starting to take effect. It has already gained a total of 200,000 signatures in just one week. It has also been the subject of controversy, being banned in the UK.
View the video now and go to the petition and get signing. And if the video does not motivate you enough than these statistics will:
30,000 children have died in the past three months and there are 12 million people at risk. These children are apart of a family. They are daughters, sons, brothers and sisters.
Famine is not a natural catastrophe. It can be stopped and prevented, and scarily enough its man-made.
