Whatever way you look at at, due to global temperatures rising, The Arctic is melting away at a rapid rate. As a cruel result Polar Bears are losing their homes and numbers are declining. Their survival all depends on our actions and efforts to protect their habitat.
As a symbol of their commitment to the cause Coca Cola is planning a winter white out. In the US it will turn all cans white with their iconic image of the polar bear and two cubs.
In collaboration with World Wildlife Fund, Coca Cola is taking their commitment to the loveable polar bear further. They are trying to raise the profile of the bear and save its habitat. The campaign will donate an initial two million dollars to the efforts and will match donations of the public up until a further one million is raised.
Polar bears have long been associated with Coke since the early days of 1922. It is used as a symbol of ice cold refreshment and bringing friends and family together. Muhtar Kent said of the project:
We want to help the polar bear — a beloved Coca-Cola icon since 1922 — by helping conserve its Arctic habitat. That’s why we’re using one of our greatest assets — our flagship brand, Coca-Cola — to raise awareness for this important cause. And by partnering with WWF, we can truly make a positive difference for these majestic animals.
