Want a sneak peak into a project we are working on?

We are working on a project which will invole social responsibility, the environment, your conscious and the planet. It is a small project that will conect health, planet, mind and future. We are excited and looking forward to it. Watch this space for more information in December. Whilst we can not say much, what we can say is it will involve bikes/ fixies.

THE CALL OUT: If you have any images of fixies or know something about building bikes, we want to hear from you. So if you know someone into fixing fixed wheel bikes, someone who rides one, send them this page and ask them to get in touch with us. It will be worth it. Email ben@transitionxy.com

For an update on what we are talking about:

A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed wheel bicycle) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving. The sprocket is screwed directly onto the hub. When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn in the same direction.[1] This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake, by resisting the rotation of the cranks, and also to ride in reverse. Track cycling in a velodrome has always used fixed-gear track bikes, but fixed-gear bicycles are now used on the road,[2] a trend generally seen as being led by bicycle messengers.
Most fixed gear bicycles have just one gear ratio.
